Help me inaugurate Nikki's book into the Courageous Wordsmith Collection
Breathing Life into Words
I'm Amy Hallberg, lifelong Minnesotan, founder of Courageous Wordsmith. My name means Beloved Soundmountain. I used to teach German & Spanish. Now I teach real-life writers to find their authentic voices.
As an author (Tiny Altars and German Awakening) & podcaster, I explore the intersections of language, storytelling & healing. As an editor & writing mentor trained in creative nonfiction, life coaching, etc., I guide real-life writers through their narrative journeys—from inklings to beautiful works.

Am I publisher? Nope.
What the Courageous Wordsmith Collection is.
Dear Reader,
This week I'm packing for my road trip to Iowa and preparing for our virtual launch on Sunday at noon Central. As before any writing adventures, I'm taking my time to be thoughtful.
I want my questions to land and my outfit to match the cover.
After all, Nikki Kindred Halvorson's Salvaged is the inaugural title in the Courageous Wordsmith Collection and I'm over the moon.
Plus it's the first time I'll meet Nikki in person, three years into our journey of working together to shape this beautiful book:
I'm eager for Nikki to share the backstory of her book journey, and I'm so curious what questions you'll have for Nikki. I always come away from our conversations invigorated. I've learned so much.
Since I've sent out invitations, I've gotten one question a couple of times: Is Courageous Wordsmith now a publisher? (No.)
Well then, what is the Courageous Wordsmith Collection?
Courageous Wordsmith is an artisanal workshop for real-life writers where I work with people 1:1 and convene groups to shape our stories, each in our own voices—as I like to say, guiding them on their narrative journeys—from inklings to beautiful works.
As its founder, I am a writing mentor, editor, and collaborator.
When a book belongs to the Courageous Wordsmith Collection, it's likely that I have guided the author through their publication with professionals who can help them publish as indie authors, under their own branded LLC or the publisher's imprint.
But I am not the publisher, and the author does not speak for me, nor I for the author, though we each bring a thoughtful approach.
The Courageous Wordsmith Collection is kind of like a series of book club selections. But unlike in Oprah's, or Jenna's, or Reese's book clubs, I didn't just recognize a beautiful book. I've personally helped the writer unpack and shape what was already beautiful into something unique. I know the author and I know the book.
So while each book in the Courageous Wordsmith Collection is its own special thing, I am signifying that I am the book's final editor and I am proud of it. After all, look at that gorgeous cover.
This is a book that resonates.
This is a book that offers connection.
I believe this book changes how we see the world.
If you need it in shorthand, Courageous Wordsmith Collection is a certification that tells you the author worked with me.
But it's so much simpler and it's so much more.
Come see for yourself. Sunday, Noon Central on Zoom.
